Work permits in the UK
There are many different categories under the UK work permits for non-EU nationals to apply for. Both the original document and a copy are required. All documents must be in English or Welsh, and all your contact details should be included.
The Tier2 (general) is the category for skilled people who have a job offer given by a UK company. Every year a list of prospective occupations is published, informing overseas nationals of industry shortages in the UK.
UK uses a points system to issue work visas. Points are based around varying value amounts against your qualifications, sponsorship, English language ability and future expected income.

Working in the UK

Expats from outside of the EU are required to have a work permit asked for by the British Embassy. Healthcare
Foreign nationals must register for their National Insurance Card after moving to the UK. They must make an appointment, attend an interview and complete the necessary documents. Then your NHS number will be delivered by post. Once you have received your card, you can apply at a clinic within your postal code for a General Practitioner (GP). There is a list of GPs and expats can obtain more detailed information by visiting the NHS website or call NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
Private insurance can be expensive but does cover preferential treatment. The waiting time can be shorter than that in many NHS hospitals in the UK.
